![]() ![]() If you or you know someone who is looking for a cat, please visit one of their locations and consider rescuing one! The staff is knowledgeable, loving and they truly take pride in what they do. For some reason people just don’t adopt them as often as the other breeds. She was explaining that they have an abundance of black cats. They ensure each cat/dog gets attention from the volunteers every day and that their space is maintained. That way the animals go under the least amount of stress as possible. She was explaining that when animals are dropped off or rescued they have a transitioning process to help them get acquainted with the new space and new environment. Although it may be small, they use all the resources they have. A few days ago I brought in some pillows and towels and one of the workers was so kind enough to give us a tour of their facility. Blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, toys, etc. ![]() ![]() However, we still continue to frequent Last Hope since they’re always looking for donations for the animals. Our second/current cat Daisy was rescued from another location. We had Smokey for 11 wonderful years and he was very loved. My beloved Smokey was very well taken care of here and when we adopted him into our family they offered us lost cost vet care and free spaying. My family and I are very familiar with this location considering we rescued our first cat from here many years ago. Previously the Bide-A-Wee, Last Hope Animal Rescue has come along and continued to provide aid to strayed and abandoned cats and dogs. They truly are an amazing place and everyone there has a spot in heaven waiting for them. Last Hope is now one of the major places I donate money, food, and supplies to just because of this one instance. The complete opposite of the places I found in Queens. I couldn’t believe how wonderfully humble they were and caring. They had an eye specialist on site and they told me within 20 minutes they already found a foster! I am not exaggerating about any of this! I was coming home from work late and they even stayed open a bit longer for me to get there! After they took him to the back I asked how much I owed them and they said NOTHING! They said «well if you want to donate $ 20…» and my eyes lit up I gave them at least 5 times that (maybe more, I don’t remember). A family friend told me about Last Hope in Wantagh and they took him from me THAT DAY. One place even quoted me some outrageous price to take care of him. I brought him to a few vets in the area all who seemed like they had no interest in helping the poor little guy. I found a tiny kitten who was almost blind due to infection in his eye on a major road in Queens, NY. If your looking to adopt please go check out Last Hope in Wantagh you won’t be sorry. Actually because that person was so rude I looked for another shelter and found Last Hope. I’ve been to another shelter in Massapequa were they had several kittens in one small cage with no shelf and one of the head persons were so rude. They also have a closed room with benches and toys to get to know the kitten first before deciding. The cat accomodations were nice they had enough crate space and a hammock type shelf so they could have alone time if they were crated with another kitten. One of the volunteers even delivered my kitten. The facility was being cleaned by parents with their children which I thought was great life lessons for the children. ![]() My son felt sick suddenly and she ran for cold towels and water, you can tell she not only cared about animals but also people. We met with Janine one of the volunteers who took our application she was amazing. Just adopted a 3 ½ mo old fluffy gray kitten. ![]()
